The Penn State Alumni AssociationWhat’s been happening: Upon graduation from PSU in 1955 I joined IBM as a computer design engineer in Kingston, NY starting a 38 year career that ended with my retirement on May 31, 1993. That career included a 33 month military leave of absence (1956-1959) that brought me USAF Navigator and Electronic Countermeasures ratings and assignment as an Electronic Warfare Officer on a B-52 combat crew in the Strategic Air Command. After that I rejoined IBM in Kingston, but moved to the Washington, DC area in 1961 and progressed through a series of sales, staff and government affairs positions in IBM's organization responsible for the sale of IBM's commercial products to the Federal Government. Shortly after my IBM retirement, I joined Hewlett Packard as a Government Affairs Manager in its Washington Corporate Government Affairs Office and managed a range of exciting issues until I finally retired in November 2002. On July 31, 1965 I married Marcia Lee Putnam of Glastonbury, CT. Marcia is an alum of Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA, but has converted to a Nittany Lion football fan as a result of my having had Penn State football season tickets since 1978. Marcia and I have one child, our wonderful daughter Jennifer Berish Sullivan of Paoli, PA. Jennifer and her husband Joe are both Villanova grads. and the proud parents of our only grandchild so far, Connor (born 1/28/07). |
